Farm Bell Hanger

My wife Denise unearthed an old farm bell when she was moving dirt around in the yard.Unfortunately, she didn't find the hanger for the bell so we just left the bell in the yard for a few months. With the design help of a friend, here's what we came up with to replace the missing hanger.

The bell is pretty heavy, so we used a large hand-cut dovetail in addition to the curved support you see let into both members of the hanger. It's more than strong enough, and the curved support adds a little visual interest to the piece.
